The United States Postal Service (USPS) has unveiled its 2025 Postal Promotions, offering businesses innovative ways to enhance their direct mail campaigns while benefiting from postage discounts. This year's program introduces a structured approach with Primary
Promotions and Add-On Promotions, allowing for strategic combinations to maximize savings.
Primary Promotions:
Tactile, Sensory, and Interactive Mail Piece Engagement (February 1 – July 31, 2025): This promotion encourages the use of advanced print innovations to create a multi-sensory experience. Techniques such as unique paper textures, special inks, and interactive elements like pop-ups aim to captivate recipients. Participants can receive a 4% discount on eligible mailings.
Integrated Technology: Formerly known as Emerging and Advanced Technology, this promotion allows businesses to incorporate mobile and other technologies into their mail pieces. Participants can select a six-month period in 2025 to run their campaigns and receive a 3% discount.
Reply Mail IMbA: Returning in 2025, this promotion offers a 3% or 6% discount on First-Class Mail Qualified Business Reply Mail (QBRM) letters and postcards that meet specific requirements. Notably, participants will have all their QBRM quarterly fees removed during the promotion period.
First-Class Mail Advertising: This new promotion encourages businesses to incorporate marketing and advertising content into their First-Class Mail pieces. While details are still being finalized, it's expected to offer incentives for enhancing the promotional value of First-Class Mail.
Continuous Contact (April 1 – December 31, 2025): Designed to reward businesses for maintaining ongoing communication with their audience, this promotion offers a 3% discount for sending follow-up mailings to the same addresses as a previous mailing. The follow-up content must complement or build upon the initial mailing, fostering a sustained conversation with recipients.
Add-On Promotions:
To further incentivize mailers, USPS introduces two add-on promotions that can be combined with primary promotions (excluding the Reply Mail IMbA promotion) for additional discounts:
Informed Delivery Add-On: Mailers incorporating best practices and techniques in their Informed Delivery campaigns can receive an extra 1% discount. This add-on is available throughout the year and applies to both First-Class Mail and Marketing Mail.
Sustainability Add-On: This promotion offers a 1% discount to mailers who demonstrate that the paper used for their mail pieces is responsibly sourced and sustainably produced, bearing certification from a recognized entity. Like the Informed Delivery Add-On, it is available year-round and applies to both First-Class Mail and Marketing Mail.
By strategically combining primary promotions with add-ons, businesses can maximize their postage savings while enhancing the effectiveness and engagement of their direct mail campaigns. For instance, participating in the Tactile, Sensory, and Interactive promotion (4% discount) and adding both the Informed Delivery and Sustainability add-ons (1% each) can yield a total discount of 6%.
For detailed information on eligibility, registration periods, and specific requirements for each promotion, businesses are encouraged to consult the official USPS 2025 Promotions Calendar and Technical Information.
Embracing these USPS promotions not only offers cost savings but also provides an opportunity to innovate and elevate direct mail marketing strategies in 2025.
